Thomas is a UEFA qualified outfield and goalkeeping coach, who also has a degree in football studies. Thomas started his coaching career in England working with big clubs such as Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth. After a good spell with both clubs Thomas had the opportunity to move overseas to further develop as a coach. Thomas
first linked up with Brisbane Roar in the Australian A-league before leaving there to join the major Australian club Melbourne Victory.
Overall, Thomas had four years in Australia before most recently returning back to England to take on a new opportunity with championship club Barnsley as the 1st team head goalkeeping coach.
